Hanalei Taro Fields

We were fortunate enough to see the Taro fields before the rains came on Saturday.  Below you can see the before and after shots of the fields.

Finding Secret Beach on Kaua'i

Secret Beach, Kaua'i, Hawai'i, November 12, 2009.

Today we explored Secret Beach, which was luckily pretty close to our condo.  There isn't much else around it, so bring supplies. It is not much of a secret anymore according to the locals, but it was plenty secluded enough for us.  There was a local there and two other tourists. That was it.

The local saved me from getting wet from a wave right away.  Remember when you walk up on a beach to notice what sand is wet and what isn't.  If it's wet than a wave will probably come up to that point again, duh. I wasn't paying attention so the local had to yell "hey tourist -- move" to get me out of the way.  I thanked him and listen to his stories of the people who didn't move as quick as me.

I created a custom map of the area with photos to help somebody else find their way to this beach if they are on Kauai. You can view the map here (Google Maps).

Spouting Horn and Poipu

Today we took a drive down to the south-side of the island.  We had reservations at Duke's Canoe Club that were setup by our friend Chuck who cooks there. Along the drive we went through a bit of a tree-tunnel.

Off to Hawaii!

The morning after the wedding we left the 4-H Center in Colmbiana, AL and went straight to the Birmingham Airport.  We flew from there to Dallas and on to Honolulu.  Here is a picture I snapped from the plane on my cellphone, I think it is cool because it attached longitude/latitude where I was when I took it (we were there).
